Interdisciplinary Biological Sciences Program (IBiS)
The IBiS, Ph.D. program on the Evanston campus, features more than 60 faculty members from diverse departments including Molecular Biosciences, Chemical & Biological Engineering, Chemistry, Neurobiology, and Biomedical Engineering. The expanded curriculum prepares students for careers in academia, government, industry, and teaching.
IBiS students receive broad initial training, then specialize in particular areas. Graduate study in the doctoral program involves four key components: research, course work, teaching, and independent learning through seminars and interaction with other scientists. The primary goal of the doctoral program is to encourage the development of an independent, creative research scientist.
IBiS students are also very active in the IBiS Student Organization (ISO).
The Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), Feinberg School of Medicine
The MSTP program is a M.D./Ph.D. dual degree program on both the Chicago and Evanston campuses. The program prepares qualified students for careers in biomedical research or academic medicine as well as clinical practice.
