QSB Research and Faculty

mbs faculty collage

Research is a critical element of the QSB program and constitutes almost half of the academic credits required by the program.  Students work with outstanding faculty whose research covers diverse areas of quantitative and systems biology.

  • Research areas include investigations of the genetics and genomics of complex traits, noise in biological control systems, genetic and epigenetic regulation of stem cells and their differentiation, signal transduction, gene expression, proteomics, protein network homeostasis, and single-molecule biophysics.
  • Immediately after being accepted into the program, students select a research project and begin working with the faculty and their lab mentors.
  • As preparation for lab research, students take QSB 401, which provides individualized training in technical aspects of the student’s research area and allows students to hit the ground running when they start in the lab.
