QSB Program Timeline

FEBRUARY TO SEPTEMBER

• Admission to program
• Students work with program director to select a thesis lab
• Students begin background research on thesis topic

SEPTEMBER

• Program starts on the first Tuesday of September
• Introduction to programming for Big Data
• Year dependent: attend IBiS Ph.D program retreat, or Image Analysis and High Throughput Analysis Bootcamps, or begin thesis research

FALL QUARTER (September - December):

• Thesis research; Writing & Presentation course
• 2 required courses

WINTER QUARTER (January - March):

• Thesis research
• 1 required course, 1 elective course

SPRING QUARTER (April - June):

• Thesis research
• 1 required course, 1 elective course

SUMMER QUARTER (July - August):

• Thesis research, thesis preparation
• NGS Boot camp
• Defend thesis (thesis committee)
• Thesis seminar (thesis lab, QSB and IBiS students)
